Things to do

There is canoeing on the River Isle (pronounce Eezel) in Montpon and there are beaches on both the Dronne and Dordogne. The Lac du Gurson (other side of Villefranche de Lonchat) has a beach and water activities.
Villages such as Issegiac (medieval) near to Chateau Montbazillac (wonderful, sweet dessert wine region and a beautiful Chateau to visit)) are worth the trip as is St Emilion (for obvious reasons!). If you can get to Sarlat and head toward Perigueux you will find amazing cave complexes at Eyziac, including caves that were inhabited from prehistoric times right up to the 1950s!
Aubeterre is about 40 minutes North (head towards Riberac and turn left just before) is a beautiful village with a subterranean church. A similar distance, turning right at Riberac, will find Brantome, a beautiful, riverside town steeped in history.
On the coast outside Bordeaux, is Arcachon (less than 2 hours from St Remy). A beautiful resort with sandy beaches in the enclosed Basson. The Dune de Pilat is MASSIVE (largest in Europe) and well worth a visit.
